ImWheel is a program that runs alongside an XWindowSystem? server that intercepts mouse button input events and translates them into a configurable sequence of keyboard events.

For example, if a user wants to use the scroll wheel on their modern mouse with an older program that doesn't know how to interpret scroll wheel events, then they write their DotImWheelRc file so that whenever they use the scroll wheel with that program, ImWheel would send an "up arrow" or "down arrow" signal to it as appropriate.

ImWheel also offers a convenient way to map the ExtraMouseButtons found on many newer mice and trackballs to keystrokes that perform useful actions in various applications, such as switching between tabs on a WebBrowser? or VirtualDesktops? in a WindowManager?.
