FreeBSD FireWalls? have some additional abilities over and above their traditional role of filtering packets. In conjunction with the DummyNet? facility, a FireWall? can be set to limit bandwidth to certain hosts or ports, and to prioritize packets so that more important data can be sent and received even when the network connection is filled to capacity.
