FreeBSD is an OperatingSystem that runs on "x86" CPUs (CentralProcessingUnits?), such as those made by Intel (IntelCorporation?), AMD (AdvancedMicroDevices?), or VIA (ViaTechnologies?). It also runs on the DEC (DigitalEquipmentCorporation) Alpha and Sun (SunMicrosystems?) UltraSPARC? machines.

It is known for its extreme reliability, speed, and cohesiveness, often above that available from GnuLinux?.
