FreeBSD is an OperatingSystem that runs on "x86" CPUs (CentralProcessingUnits^?), such as those made by Intel (IntelCorporation^?), AMD (AdvancedMicroDevices^?), or VIA (ViaTechnologies^?). It also runs on the DEC (DigitalEquipmentCorporation) Alpha and Sun (SunMicrosystems^?) UltraSPARC^? machines.

It is known for its extreme reliability, speed, and cohesiveness, often above that available from GnuLinux^?.
